Two Beskids

Małopolska, known for its picturesque landscapes, rich folklore tradition and exceptional cuisine, will once again become the stage for one of the region’s most important sporting events. Krynica-Zdrój, known as the pearl of Polish spas, will welcome hundreds of runners and fans during the European Running Festival on the last weekend of June.

The festival not only opens the summer tourist season in Krynica-Zdrój, but also combines sport with culture and relaxation. The charm of the resort, whose atmosphere is created by both artistic and sporting events, attracts crowds of tourists, spa guests, art lovers and competitors. At this time of year, the promenade in Krynica and the mountain trails of the Beskid Sądecki and Beskid Niski come alive.

Description of the Krynicka Setka route - the pearl of the European Running Festival

Krynicka Setka is the quintessence of mountain running, combining the most beautiful views, unique challenges and the history of the region. The 100 km route is not only a challenge for the body, but also a feast for the soul – from sunrises on the observation tower, through herds of sheep in the meadows of Sądecczyzna, to the mysterious ruins of Lemko villages and the legendary Lackowa, Queen of the Low Beskids.

Starting at 03:00, participants have 21 hours to complete this spectacular but demanding route. It is a true test of strength, determination and passion for mountain running.

The first kilometres – an emotional warm-up
The route begins with a short stretch of asphalt, which quickly turns into a steep climb to the Henryk SKI ski slope. At Krzyżowa (817 m above sea level) runners will face their first altitude difference – 250 metres in just 2 km! The next few kilometres take you through the picturesque surroundings of the Słotwiny Arena ski resort and along the treetop path, where you can admire the spectacular panorama of the Sądecki Beskids.

Climbing Jaworzyna Krynicka
After resting at the bottom station of the ski lift, a tough climb along the FIS route to the top of Jaworzyna Krynicka awaits you. The ascent is 3 km, but the view from the top (1114 m above sea level) is well worth the effort.

The Jaworzyna Range – a picturesque stretch along the ridge
The next 11 km follow the red trail through Runek to Łabowska Hala. This section is of medium difficulty, ideal for recovery. A PTTK shelter awaits runners here, where volunteers have prepared a refreshment point.

Secrets of the Lower Beskids
The route continues through the forest thickets of the Low Beskids, full of mysterious legends and stories. The steep climb to Lackowa (997 m above sea level) is a real test of endurance – 400 m of altitude difference in just 2.5 km! After this challenge, runners will face Ostry Wierch and the green trail leading to Przełęcz Prehyba and the abandoned village of Bieliczna.

Return through Tylicz
The last few kilometres pass through Tylicz, a town full of history and natural attractions such as mofets and sorrel springs. A steep climb to Szubienica is the last serious obstacle before the final section.

Finish at the Krynicki Promenade
The last few metres of the course run along the Krynica-Zdrój boardwalk, where runners are greeted by cheering fans. At the finish line, each runner can toast the end of this incredible adventure with a symbolic sip of Kryniczanka.

Popularization of activities in mountain scenery

The European Running Festival also has a social mission. Part of the proceeds from the entry fees will be donated to charity, which is an additional motivation to take part in this unique event. One of the main goals of the festival is to promote mountain and cross-country running as a form of active recreation. The organisers want to inspire people to lead a healthy lifestyle and at the same time show the beauty and diversity of the Beskydy Mountains. The European Running Festival is not only a celebration of running, but also an event that combines sport, culture and social integration. It is a time when Krynica-Zdrój resonates with joy, effort and passion, creating unforgettable memories for all participants.
