Bucovina - Romania's legendary treasure

The Bucovina region stands out for its landscape values, clean environment, sacred architecture and ethnic mosaic. Bukovina is a region in north-eastern Romania, whose name, originally Germanic “Buchenland”, means “land of beeches”. The landscape is extremely beautiful, its topography gradually decreasing from west to east. The lands of Bucovina hide a rich history, ancient traditions and customs, unique monuments and medieval monasteries and churches, famous for their unique interior and exterior paintings.

Bucovina Ultra Rocks - Experience True Trail Running

Bucovina Ultra Rocks is one of the largest mountain running competitions in Romania, organised with the support of the Campulung Moldovenesc commune. An area known for its mountainous relief and long, steep climbs to peaks such as Rarău (1,650 m), Pietrosu Bistriţei (1,793 m) and Giualău (1,857 m), Bucovina Ultra Rocks offers runners a unique opportunity to experience the brutal beauty of Bucovina, along with its forests, gorges and UNESCO World Heritage sites, by choosing one of six distances.

Slatioara secular high forest – a reservation situated on the eastern slope of Rarau massif, on a surface of 1064 ha, a fragment of secular high forest, untouched by civilisation. The trees that make up this reserve are among the oldest in Romania and even in Europe. The Bucovina Ultra Rocks running routes will go around this reserve, using the wonderful hiking trails of Rarau – Giumalau and the Bucovina region. Each race is held in one stage, at an unspecified pace and within a given time limit.
